"Angelic Passion"

A couple of days ago I came across a very intersting - and bizarre - article in a students' medical magazine, and I couldn't help but post here in a nutshell what I read.

Have you ever heard of after-death erection of the penis? Can it happen?

Regardless of what you believe that happens to us after we die, these are some facts:
1) The blood pools due to gravity.
2) The body hardens due to the concentration of of lactic acid in the muscles (rigor mortis).
3) The body swells due to the production of gases by bacteria that dissolve the muscle tissue.

And, in men that meet death lying face down, the concentration of the blood finally leads to erection of the penis! So, it can actually happen.

Some refer to it as "angelic passion".

Rest in peace...
